Summary: I want to take you back to elementary school. Remember the question of “What do you want to be when you grow up?” A lot of answers are funny. Some kids say “ a truck” or “a butterfly” ; those aren’t something someone can turn into when they grow up but I love the imagination of it. I love the confidence in their answers. As people get older and reality sets in, a lot of people let their dreams and imaginations die. They’re life is dedicated to work, kids, and waiting for retirement. What if I told you that you could enjoy life a little more? What if I told you that bringing back in those “childlike” ways of thinking you would begin to find more purpose in life? In this blog my goal is to inspire you to find more purpose in your life and help you determine what you want. So let’s dive in…
It’s important to remember in life that it is a journey. I have been impatient in the past with where my life was and wanted to get things done faster or hit certain milestones sooner. I forgot to sit back and enjoy the moments as they were happening. My advice is to always strive and have goals but also allow yourself to appreciate the small wins when they happen. In the past when I was so focused on the future I wasn’t happy with the Now, I lost myself in a race to try to make money in different careers that weren’t fulfilling and were keeping me from seeing the goals that I wanted to achieve. I told myself if I do x,y,z then I will be able to be happy and that was far from the truth. I began to lose sight of who I was/ wanted to become. It wasn’t until I took a step back and looked at what my life was turning into that I decided to prioritize my passions. Once I did that I started to feel fulfilled again. I started to be happier and do more. If you’re feeling like that I challenge you to take a step back and plan the things that you enjoy back into your life. Find your old passions and also find new ones too.
If you aren’t sure how to figure out your passions that’s okay. This is how you can find them. Everyone is built with natural abilities and gifts. Some people are amazing and others are very talented in athletics. A few examples of natural talents that you might identify with are: Singing, music, painting, sculpting, drawing, knitting, sewing, writing, designing, interior design, baseball, basketball, football, dancing, cheerleading, mechanicing, woodworking, making jewelry. Those are just a few off the top of my head so I apologize if none of those resonate with you but I hope at least one did. So go back to your childlike thinking and find something that you enjoy that gives you more purpose in life.
I hope you have learned something in this blog. If you want help or have questions about how to implement the tools I wrote about today reacho out I would love to give you more advice.
